You remember my post for last months #authortoolboxbloghop? I’m sure you do, but just in case you don’t, it was about ways to feature different types of content on your blog. The reason I bring this up; I’m toying with the idea of adding a new type of post on The Scribblings.
I’ve been doing book reviews on here for about a year and a half now, or so it seems. The majority of those reviews have been of independent books; mainly by authors that I’ve either met or have seen recommended on Twitter. Which I think is fair, since some of them include you good people following The Scribblings, and because I think they have more to gain by a new review on Amazon.
But I have reviewed one or two books by (for lack of a better description) mainstream authors. In some cases, those were books I was reading for the first time but, for at least one, it was a re-read. And no, I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve read them. I also did one post which, although it wasn’t a review, talked about the novel Dune and my thoughts about it.
That was one part of the idea. The other came courtesy of one of the Twitter hashtag games I’m doing this month, called #AlphabetAugust. Each day you pick a book, the title of which begins with that day’s letter. I’m actually doing two for each; one of a book I’ve read and loved, the other for one I intend to read & review.
Anyway, this got me thinking that I don’t often talk about the books that I love or those that have some sort of special meaning to me, aside from the aforementioned post about Dune. Why not?
Well, I don’t know why not. But I am thinking about starting to do so. I’m not sure how frequently I could do posts like that, or even what I could call the series, but I think it might be nice to revisit some old favourites.
